RECLAIMING THE PIECES - VIDEO CLIPS Coming Soon!
"I felt empowered
sitting in the audience while your video played last night. It says
a lot of things I wish I could say to people but never seem to find
the opportunity."
-Aryn Zev, trans artist (Aryn viewed a rough cut of this
film in progress)
Reclaiming the Pieces is a feature-length documentary film that walks us through the lives of seven transgendered people who have found their sense of place. Beyond just politics and anatomy, this documentary shows transgendered people as multifaceted individuals who share insights on life from their unique experiences. As filmmaker Ethan Bach travels across the US to interview transgendered people from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life, we witness a cross-cultural people and a newly emerging landscape of this nation.
From New York City to Santa Fe to San Francisco, this documentary uses
poetic contemporary filmmaking techniques to tell the stories of transgender
people. As the sun rises over the horizon into the sky, the landscapes
morph from mountainous desert to cityscape, to the various landscapes
of where their journeys take place. We hear a women’s voice as
the title appears, “No one reassigned me anything. I corrected
some anomaly that happened in nature.” After her, we are introduced
to each person as they share a piece of themselves about how the film
will unfold.
